was at a local gun shop today and they had 50 beat up ruger 10/22's. They were 220 each. When I asked the sales guy about them he told me they were Israeli surplus. Training rifles.
Anyone else here of these coming in, who iported them? I may have to go pick one out.

Haven't seen 'surplus' 10/22s before. If they are beat up $220 sounds a little steep. My last 10/22 was purchased for $199 on sale (about 4 years ago) and bought a new RIA 10/22 for $120 on sale just a few months ago.

I don't know how you feel about your gun's history/ providence. The Israeli 10/22's have an interesting history at least, they were used as a less-lethal crowd control solution but they stopped using them because they found the 22lr too lethal for its intended use.. at least according to my research

Same thing I've read, suppressed .22LR is a great knee capper in riot control use there......

for a "beat up" 10/22 why would anyone pay $220. its not like 10/22's are hard to find. you could get a lightly used one for that. seems strange

The Isreali surplus 10/22s are not your average 10/22 - there were a lot of very specific modifications made to them for accuracy and reliability based on the contract Ruger had with the IDF.

This. There is also some rumors surrounding the fact that highly trained marksmen could consistently hit kneecaps on paper targets at the range, then mysteriously shot high and hit the forehead with startling regularity in the field. Funny how that works.

Let's see some pics!

$220 for a beat up 10/22 is cheap! I am assured of this fact, after reading through the EE daily.......
:stirthepot2:
yup the EE tells me that $400 for a beat up 10/22 with a blocked barrel from the 70's is a good deal. that and paying $80 for 500 rounds of bulk ammo is a good deal.
