Surplus 7.62x39 Rocket Launcher

We were offered some of those with the launcher a few years ago. They are rather neat. I would love to see the old farts at the range with that setup!

Why would anyone think they wouldn't consider it a single shot firearm?

Are the launchers illegal?

There are two negatives in his statement... "I can't see how this would not be considered a firearm by the RCMP"

So he thinks the RCMP would likely classify it as such.

Exactly, it chambers a cartridge, and it fires one, hence it is a firearm.
Methinks the launching tube is simply a trigger accessory. :D

It would be real interesting how the RCMP would classify it.

As I mentioned in my post, I believe they already have. Back when all that crap was going on with the 40mm M203s, and the milkor, the RCMP also made the RPG7 a registerable firearm. Not the sub cal, but the rocket launcher. The reason was that is accepted a sub cal device. Seems to me someone posted the FRT listing on one of the threads about the milkor.

This is all likely a moot point anyway, since the US is not likely to issue export permits for these.

i have seen some online in canada recently so my "guess" is the actual RPG launcher's are not "illegal"..... i know some gun shop's carry oddball ammo but trying to find a surplus crate of HE or HEAT round's maybe diffacult..... and expensive.... and if you need to lic and reg a dummy round that fire's a 7.62 shell then that would just be double redundancy and uncalled for.

I have never seen a live RPG7 launcher for sale in Canada although I would be very happy if anyone would prove me wrong.

So if they are a firearm the obvious question from the oblivious (like me) restricted by barrel length (or is the launcher the barrel) - non-restricted 'cause an RPG is pretty big to hide under a windbreaker, or prohib - don't want to frighten the bambi people.

on a related note, what about the Carl G training device...........?

That is the question.

It's just cool that it takes regular 7.62x39 ammo... so it's easy to find and inexpensive to fire. I just think the visual is hilarious - going deer hunting or going to the range with something that looks like a rocket launcher.

I would suspect the SWAT team would be called by a "concerned citizen", and the media van would be just behind theirs. :D

Then all the fudds on the board would call the CFC and demand that this device be made prohib', as the very thought of it scares their ducks, and makes their WSM rifles feel small. :D
