I was given a small amount of 7.62 with WCC 95 head stamp. Just wondering if any one knowes if they are metal jacket or metal core?
Just curious before i go to the range.

... 7.62 with WCC 95 head stamp...

WCC is Winchester Cartridge Company. If the ammo came with a box, that is my guess. Is the bullet copper or steel? Very likely copper with a lead core. North American ammunition is almost always brass cased, copper jacket and lead core. Some variations are found, but steel in any of those three components is a sign the stuff was made in one of the former Warsaw Pact countries or China. As for bullet types, if the tip of the bullet is closed and pointy, that is called Full Metal Jacket.

If it's NATO surplus and the tip is bare it's plain full metal jacket if it has a painted tip then you might have issues

Black: AP
Blue: Incendiary
Orange/Red: Tracer
Green: Semi-AP (newish .223 only)
Green w/ silver band: Frangible
Silver: API
Yellow: Spotter (exploding)

Someone always leaves something interesting to shoot in the old pit. If i found a few black tips i would make sure it was something worth shooting before wasting them.
Havent had a chance to shoot a tracer in over 20 years.
