Anyone have any word on the status of the 7.62x54R shipments currently held up for government testing / approval? Is this something we can expect released for sale soon, or would it be a while yet?

I am getting my PAL very soon, and I would love to pick up an M91/30, M38, or M44, or perhaps all of the above. However, I just can't swing it if I have to buy sport ammo to shoot through them.

I just read that Marstar has some actually at their warehouse; they are just waiting for the go-ahead. How long does the government testing take?

As I understand, it's not just testing that our Gubernment wants, they also want manufacturer's production records and chemical composition of the powder.

dont hold your breath

my guess is that marstar will tire of waiting for canadian gov approval and sell it to the us just like all the 8mm mauser

I wouldn't be surprised if it has already been sold to the US......and I certainly don't blame them.

I'm not happy about it. I really wanted an SVT-40, but ammo is just too hard to find.

They can't sell it in the US. The US has "effectively" banned importation of FMJ military ammo. They did this by reclassifying what is considered armour piercing. Since FMJ bullets will "tend" to penetrate body armour better than soft point, or is manufactured to be able to penetrate armour, it is therefore "armour piercing" and prohibited from import. (or some such arbitrary type of ruling) Since most military ammo has specs for a certain amount of penetration, it is therefore "armour piercing"
