Seems many are looking at converting to mags, but they were designed to work with ammo preloaded on stripper clips. Will we ever see surplus ammo come on stripper clips again? I havent seen any commercially available in years. Any out there should fetch a premium no?

There was a batch for sale at a few retailers just a month or 2 ago of the Czech ammo on clips. Higher prices than normal surplus for sure, but not outrageous. Less than the East German stuff that's out now

AFAIK Czech ammo was the only 7.62x39 to come on stripper clips because of the Vz 58. Occasionally you still see batches come in but it certainly isn’t as plentiful as it once was about 10 years ago.
Never heard of loading Vz 58 with stripper clips.
Works just like on the SKS but smoother

Then why does it have a stripper clip guide?
I’ve found it to be easier to screw up a reload with stripper clips on the Vz 58 compared to the SKS.
Worked good with ultimags from Zahal but never tried with metal magazines. Although not really useful for emergency reloads, my friend in the US used this feature as a magazine charger to fill his magazines up at the range. Way quicker than one round at the time.
