Surplus Powder Qn

Timing?

When do you plan on getting it ready to sell? I know a great deal of people are showing interest already. I would be interested in 20+ lbs personally and I know of about 5-10 others I have mentioned it too that are also interested in obtaining some at my club. I would imagine 100+ lbs or so.

More is being pulled as we speak. I hate to say it but I burned 50lbs because I didn't think there would be a market for it. Once more is ready I'll let people know.

If anyone wants it drop me a PM and I'll let you know if/when it becomes available. Btw, 5.7x28 brass is now on the website.

I'd say about $15/lb.

I'd say a bit less than that (at least for bulk orders of 8 to 10lbs or more), both because I want some, and also because at $15 a lb for a powder with (at this point) mostly unknown qualities, I'd be real tempted to instead, go bulk-order some more "known quantity" WC-735 for $17 a lb or even some RamShot, which is not much over $20 a lb if you know where to shop.

If it turns out to be more BL-C(2)-ish than 735-ish in it's burn rate, I would probably revise my opinions. :)

Just my $0.02

I'd say about $15/lb.

Since the powder is 50+ years old, pulldown, and unknown origin, it isn't worth anywhere near that.

Higginsons was selling their WC-735 for about $14 a lb last year, and they raised the price this year. The big difference is Higginson's powder is fully documented as to source and manufacture and is new, not pulldown.

This pulldown powder should be in the $5 to $10 lb range depending on quantity. Above $10 a pound, I will buy new powder. Besides, this isn't "powder" it is just fertilizer because it doesn't have NRCAN approvals.

I know in the US they were selling various KNOWN and DOCUMENTED pulldown powders in the $5/lb range.

Any word yet about the surplus powder I am very interested in at least 10 lbs ,if it was good enough for any military to stake their life on it should be good enough for me to take on a few paper targets.!

I have Berdan primers and the equipment to decap quickly.

The berdan primer has some advantages over the Boxer in terms of a better pressure and velocity SD.

That said, for 99.999% of reloaders, it is not worth the effort. I use the berdans for one caliber where the brass is only available as Berdan (8x60R) and for experimentation.

I 20 years I have used less than half the can of 10,000 primers.

Unfortunately there won't be any powder available. All of the projectiles are now sold.
