I have a surplus unissued tokarev, fails to feed with surplus ammo almost 8 times on 10.
The slide doesnt completely close and I have to give it a slight "push" forward to close it.

Disassembled the pistol to check ammo vs chamber size, they all fit fine, so it doesnt seem to be an ammo fit issue.

I though I had cleaned the pistol quite well, but I just put it in the ultrasonic cleaner with some simple green for an hour, and I made 4 dummy rounds to do a cycle test to see where the ammo is grabbing.
Will probably test it tomorrow.

Anyone is having this issue?

Is this a weak spring issue? Any other ideas?
I might buy the spring kit from gunsprings.com if I don't find the feeding issue with the dummy rounds tomorrow.

Oh and does anyone get good target results with that pistol? I am a bad shooter but this is way worse than when I shoot my modern pistols.

Thanks

Never had an issue with mine, accuracy seems to be OK but not quite as good as my M&P. How is your feed ramp? If it's a bit rough it could be causing some resistance, might need a little polishing. (I saw someone else mentioning this)

I will check it all out tomorrow and see, right now it's having a little warm simple green hd bath ;)
So much cosmoline crap in this.

I had the same issue with mine, needed very good cleaning. Problem is that this guns spend their lives in strorages or in holsters of services who never used them

I was issued TT 33 while I worked for Polish Railroad Police. Never new it was faulty till I tried to chamber it 5 years into my service, dog took a nice bite on my leg. It still hurts when weather changes. Clean the chamber very very well and oil the cartridges for firs few magazines

The ultrasonic cleaning in super hot degreaser seems to have gotten rid of all cosmoline. That thing is SPARKLING clean. (will have to do the same to my norinco woodsman .22 tomorrow). No joking, it's that much cleaner, squicky clean. (But then you have to blow dry all parts and spray oil and wipe everything, so it's quite a hassle)

Dummy rounds are in the tumbler with all the rest of the junk all night, will try it tomorrow.

I'll try it at the range on tuesday and I'll report also.

So far I have shot maybe 200 rounds but I still get the same issues.

Ok, tested with dummy rounds, it still jams.... I don't really know why.
If I try to close the slide on a round, it will jam with the round half way in.
It just takes a bit of presure for the round to "get out of the mag" and get it the chamber.
It's like it's half in the chamber at an angle, and half in the mag, and so it just wedges there.
What's causing this? No clue.

maybe your feed ramp has burrs on it, that it keeps hanging up on, are you able to polish it up a bit with a very fine grit sand paper? Are you using surplus or reloads? cause my brothers tokerev feeds surplus ball FMJ but has difficulty with his handloads which he uses hollow points and they seem to hang up as you described. Anyways hope this helps a little bit, good luck wish i could be more help

The magazines on the Polish TT-33 I received had rust and dried grease on the inside of the magazine.
Cleaning and sanding the inside of the magazine and springs made it feed reliably.

I used to have a similar feeding issue with my handloads in some of my 1911s. I installed new recoil springs a notch stronger than stock. This seemed to have enough energy to close the slide. maybe the Tok spring is weak.

I just ordered a wolf spring kit and will report once installed.
I hope that it works because it cost near 50$ including shipping to get that.
(had to buy another item to get a total of at least 25$ for them to ship.)
Oh well, a tok that has FTF is not worth anything anyway. I would rather have it work.
