Went to Tenda this morning for a casual visit. Before I left, I asked the clerk if I can hand pick a 1952 Russian SKS. My expectations aren't that high as these Russian SKSs are refurb BBQ ones.
Funny enough, the first one he takes out is a 1949 SKS. While it is refurbished, it had all the correct features. Square gas block. Spring loaded firing pin. Loop take down pin.
Nice place holder to have until I find a better example.
I guess the moral of the story here is that always take a look at a couple SKS for a store visit. You never know what you will find.
