Doing some work on my 300 BLK AR yesterday. Removing the trigger group I pushed out the trigger pin and surprise it came out in two pieces. The pin had broken clean in half at the detent ring in the middle of the pin. This is a DPMS LPK that is a few years old but hasn't actually seen a ton of use. The weird thing was that the rifle worked fine and the trigger felt fine.

In the end it wasn't such a big deal as I had a spare pin and was able to reinstall the trigger without a problem. The lesson here is that it isn't a bad idea to have a few spares even for parts that don't normally break or wear out. The second is that it may not be a bad idea to completely strip the rifle to clean and inspect all parts every year or two.

ya im not a fan of my DPMS lower parts kit and it hasnt even been to the range yet.
the trigger feels good but the fit of some of the parts is sub-par.

how is the rest of the kit? anything else i should watch for?

You know when I mentioned wanting to get a spare LPK for my DDM4V5 people were asking, "Why, is DD bad quality?" Having a spare doesn't mean it's bad, it just means you're prepared. I want to have a second fully-functional gun before I ever get serious about competition and enough parts to build a third.

I have installed maybe 50+ DPMS LPKs and only seen one bad part. I don't think there is anything wrong with the DPMS LPKs. This is the first broken part I have encountered.
