I stopped by my LGS today and we got to chatting and i asked if they had any of the new offerings from BCL in stock, which they did, so i asked ifi could have a look.
i must admit i was surprised by the new BCL102 Mk7!

they had a burnt bronze one in stock and wow if the fit and finish on that rifle nice!
and the weight....
wowsers!
i have a light barrel on my STAG and this BCL totally crushes my STAG for weight!
they definitely did some thinning of the materials in the lower.

im a fan of the 100% ambi right out of the box.

im really hoping someone i know picks one up, i would love to try it out.

the fella at the LGS has a Gen2 BCL and i have a STAG and a coworder has a Modern Hunter - we are thinking of getting them all together at the range and try them all out side by side, would be nice to try out the new Mk7 with them all.

This does sound interesting. Need more range reports from new MK7 owners. It would be nice if a couple of Youtubers snagged them too.

I think people are scared to post anything on here about their BCL products without having people go off about how it's all garbage, should have bought a stag, etc etc. I will continue to update my range report as I upgrade the gun as well as try new loads

How do you feel about not having a forward assist...

That's the only part im really hung up on. Lots of good reviews of the new MK7.

Ill likely wait for 2-3 shipments of the coyote to come in before I snag up a BCL.

I feel fine about not having a forward assist. I've never touched it on my AR. Not sure what situation I would ever be in that would require me to use that instead of extracting the round to clear my malfunction.

This isn't me saying the mk7 is better than anything else offered. Just my thoughts on a lack of forward assist.

I think the same, I've never needed it or used it on my AR15 Colt...never missed not having it on my GenII 107, same with hunting with my HK91 when they were non-restricted back in the 80's. Extra weight as far as my experience has shown me, but thats just my opinion on the subject...:)

Most AR-10 type rifles don't have a forward assist, as there is enough reciprocating mass that it has never been an issue (regardless of which side of the fence you are on with respect to them being on the smaller cousin).

If you don't have an AR-10 type rifle, skip the BCL and go with a STAG. imho.

FA's only became an issue in two cases.

Press checks, and when firing a #### ton of blanks.

so did they put a light profile barrel on the MK7 then?

As a leftie I much prefer not having a forward assist in the way. Regardless of that fact, the only time I've ever needed to touch a forward assist was to play with it as a curiosity over any practical reason. Even Eugene Stoner was against having a forward assist, his reasoning being "if you have a problem with the rifle, the worst thing you could do is jam another round into it" paraphrased a little.

It's certainly not a "light" barrel as it's quite thick, but not heavy either since it doesn't need fluting. Definitely very closer to the middle.

Any difference between the Mk7 and Stag-10 in terms of switching out parts like stock and hand guard with aftermarket ones?

BCL says the MK7 is milspec and from the complete disassemblies I've done they're certainly not lying, though I have questions about the BCG especially the ejector. The receiver set and handguards are probably the only components not interchangeable because they're aesthetically designed to be used together.

Mine does the same thing. I was told you can replace the ejector parts for cheap from TNA. I'm probably going to end up getting a new BCG, not because I'm concerned about the factory one, just because I want an aftermarket BCG to compare. Then when I build another upper I will have a BCG for each.
