I have a No 4 Mk 1/2 Enfield that I believe is a Maltby. It has SURREY stamped on top of the barrel. I've never seen this before. Is Surrey a barrel manufacturer? Any info appreciated.

SURREY barrel on No.4 Mk 1/2 Lee Enfield

"Surrey" was a UK gun company that sporterized Enfields. they stamped their name on the top of the barrel and had the rifle proofed for export. They sporterized for companies like CTC, Eatons, Simpson Sears. They had competitors like Chuirchill, Greener and big brother Paker Hale.

Thanks. I've heard of Churchill and seen many Parker Hale's but hadn't heard of Surrey.
