Were the civilian Tiger rifles ever imported into Canada? Could they be?

That makes me very sad.I recall SIR Mail order had SVD's listed in their cataog around 1990. They were non restricted (as most all rifles were at the time).
A local expert (gunplumber ?) told me that approx 60 made it to N America. 40 to the USA and 20 to Canada.
I got mine from John at Marstar!!
THAT was the time for Soviet equipment. Their 2nd Gen night vision was also breifly available, but I didnt have the 2.5K for that![]()
Unless they managed to easily squeeze 2moa or better out of it id see next to no advantage over the SR. The 3moa average for Type 81s compliments the ballistic range of 7.62x39 decently well. Making hits on a respectable sized target out to 600m is fairly doable with those setups. If the same gun was chambered in 54r, id only be frustrated watching my more powerful and expensive rounds hit everywhere but where i was pointing beyond that range.
Id rather hope for a completely new and more capable firearm that can then be modded to resemble a SVD.
US civilians have proved the platform to be capable of better then 2moa with ammo the guns like. Dragunov made olimpic rifles and was perfectly capable of designing an accurate firearm.6 moa SVT=bad
5 moa SVD=good
