I bought this 1941 KOVROV arsenal SVT 40 a few months ago and I was wondering what these markings on the stock meant.

Center mark - Look at the bottom of the trigger guard, is there a cutout for the safety on BOTH sides? If so, your rifle has been refurbed with the (stronger) stock from an AVT40. Taht's what the "A" generally signifies, but its usually found on the right buttstock.

There's no notch on the other side so unless they filled it its not an AVT stock
