Just got a set of these from Corwin Arms and boy do they look great!

But! The tolerances and fit between the cup and the gas tube are much tighter than I am used to on the stock parts. Is this okay to use on my SVT?

My thinking is that a tighter fit should equal running at a lower gas setting. Best I can do is 1.5 right now.

Thanks for your time.

You should be able to turn you setting down if you noticed the new parts fit together tighter than the originals. My personal experience with mine was that the setting went down after the stainless steel "upgrade".

If anyone finds their setting needed to go higher after installing the stainless steel upgrade I'd question if there was any interference between the new cup and upper handgaurd.

I had been thinking that the fit of my original parts is pretty loose - but then I didn't clean right away after shooting corrosive and the parts were solid with rust.
Glad to hear that the stainless parts are close fitting when new, I'm thinking of getting the set also. I wonder why this area gets rusty even though I use lots
oil? Nothing else gets rusty.

Do you rinse off the corrosive salts with boiling water first? Then clean and oil as regular.

My "ppsh 41.com" stainless steel set is causing over gassing issues with the MFS 185gr even on 1.1 , Surplus 147gr works great though.. but im not running corrosive in this particular SVT anymore; im most likely going to have to drill a tiny hole in the cup somewhere.

Yes, I get the parts rinsed, then really clean, then oil and they are good till the next weekend (I inspect before shooting) But then, if I don't
clean right away after shooting, rust develops in the gas parts. Others must be experiencing this also in order for Corwin Arms to have come
up with the stainless steel kit. What is happening that makes these parts so prone to rust?

Man always creates a problem for himself so he could overcome it and be proud, lol. Why don't you simply clean and use original parts? I clean them and no rust there. Stainless kits is useful only if you don't clean your rifle.

P.S. Original parts were fitted very well, here's how to check. Insert the piston down into the cup, close the hole in the piston with your finger and release the cup. If cup stays in place or slowly slides down - it's a good sealing. With good sealing and other parts working fine you should be fine with 1.1. It's strange that your rifle is overgassed on 1.1. How do you know it is?

On 1.1, it ejects the MFS casings about 20ft... im presuming that isnt normal. The op rod is holding up fine.

To warrnlikeboats
SVT 40 is not meant for heavy grain ammunition they are made for Russian light ball 147 grain. 184 grain will be ok to use on occasions like hunting but do not use it for long time. My Svt 40 when I use it with heavy ball ammo basically you can feel the whole rifle wave. My advice do not use heavy ball ammo for too many shots

Mine would cycle good at 1.5 before the stainelss set. Afterwards i put it down to 1.2 so it wouldn't over-gas. You will get more accurate with a lower gas setting in most cases. i clean mine just like any other set, i simply wanted the lower gas setting and the option of not destroying the originals by carelessness. It would be great if someone made an aftermarket gas regulator tho. Bet there would be a big market for it since the stock one sucks so hard.

The stainless parts are a nice feature, but you still have to clean the internals of the gas block as well as the gas regulator or they will turn into a lump of rust.

I concur ! the orifice holes slowly open up over time with wear.... I have one regulator where the 1.1 has been worn to the point its = to a 1.3 on another regulator lol

The wood is beautiful on that rifle ^^^^^

I like the way the wood seems to be coloured so that it fades to black where it meets metal. Also the overall colour is great!
Mine is an orange-ish colour also, but not as good looking as that one. Where did you get the OP get such a great looking SVT-40?
