Just back from the range where I shot my new SVT 40 (love it) and noticed that all the spent cartridges coming out were blackened / burnt. Is this normal? I realise that being a semi-auto the cartridges are backing out of the chamber while hot gases are still in the barrel but I've never seen it that bad with my other semis. Could it be that it had too much oil /cosmo /cleaner in the barrel/ chamber?
Thanks

Black cases are not abnormal, but I would give it a good cleaning with a chamber brush to be sure its clean of debris and build up. Other than that, dont worry about it. if you reload, toss them in the tumbler to clean up

Yep,... All the time! All in the fun of owning this thing & it wouldn't be the same if it didn't get DIRTY!!!

it has a fluted chamber alot of my caseings are "dirty" almost all the way back to the rim. is your chamber free of oil???

Thanks for the input. I do oil the chamber lightly to prevent corrosion but I would think it would burn off in the first 5-10 shots. I think it has more to do with the loose fit. As long as I know its fairly common, I'll keep shooting without worrying.
Thanks
