i somehow lost my svt 40 firing pin retainer, I have no idea how, it must have slipped out sometime during cleaning. Does anyone know where I can get a new one or can I use a roofing nail with the ends ground off? does anyone know where you can find out the specs on it I can get a similar or exact same size retainer pin? any helpful ideas would be appreciated

3x14 mm. Size is not from original drawings, I measured one of my spare parts. And yes, I suppose you can replace it with some quality nail, there should be no significant load on this pin unless primer ruptured. What would happen in this case I don't know.
