I have an svt 40 that only fires Russian ammo but not Chinese at all, once in a while it fails to fire the first round of Russian ammo when I load up the mag. Some have suggested it may be a weak hammer spring, can someone tell what I can do to determine for sure if its a weak hammers spring, what else could it be? when it fails to fire the Russian stuff I hear a faint click and doesn't have that sharp snap like my other rifles, mind you im wearing ear plugs when this happens.

Probably, since this is a first round only problem, the breech block is not quite fully in battery. The base of the breech block forces a small pin (`3 mm) downward which releases the interrupter. If the interrupter is not cleanly (fully) disengaged the trigger will drag forward losing much of the spring energy. Make sure you don't ride the action forward when you chamber the first round.

Can't just be a weak hammer spring or any round would FTF.
