I was just wondering if you can remove the upper hand/ and sheet metal guards on top and front of the SVT40 and still be able to safely fire it? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

I know that you can remove them and you could in theory fire it. Im not sure if you would want to or not and Im not sure if it would be safe but you can do it.

I have never done it with mine, but as far as I know, there is no reason it can not be safely.

The problems I see that may occur are:

- Gas Piston comes out of sleeve after firing, not cycling the second shot.
- Hot gas may be directed more towards your face.

Just be careful, and unless anybody has reason to believe it is dangerous, try it out.

*Take my advice for what it is worth, this is the interwebs after all!

It not only gets hotter than a bugger, but if you bang or damage those parts you'll be hooped on getting replacements for less than bricks of gold. Its a bad idea all around, those guards are there for a reason.
