Hey guys, i have tried identifying my svt and got a hard time doing so. I am aware of the mosin nagant site, wich is where i have seen where it was manufactured. But all aditionnal markings mean what? Refurb? Finnish capture? Here are the pics

2nd question is regarding my svt usage. I have a habit but wonder if im overdoing it. Each time the svt goes out to the to range, i shoot more or less 150 rounds thru it. This is all within a few hours as i like cycling between calibers. When my day is done, i fully dissassemble it, including all gas parts. I then spray everything thats metal with brake cleaner until it clean, let dry, and then oil everything down and wipe off exess. It's quite the job. You guys do something similar or is it too much?

I'm having a problem just like yours. One of my SVT's has a second set of numbers with a weird symbol beside it. I'll post it in the morning since I'm at work now (or, if you're reading this posting Joce, can you add it from your email?).

As for shooting mine, I take two or three SVT's out at a time because I'm always with three to five people and cleaning them all takes me hours at home later...

After shooting corrosive ammo, i disassemble the gas system, flush the bore and the gas system components with boiling water then i reassemble, oiling the bore lightly. If you dont have rust problems after cleaning, your method is good. As for the marking, i will check on mines to see. I will try to grab more infos about that.

The additional marks are inspectors marks which means it passed an inspection at a given point during assembly or refurb. A headspace check after fitting of critical parts is an example of such an inspection. What each mark means is usually lost to the sands of time. They didn't make very many svt 40 in 1940.

Joce, alright that is good to know. I have owned the svt for a few months now and have put it thru more or less 600-700 rounds. Not 1 sign of rust. My only complaint is that i would like to find a limbsaver for it. Gas at 1.3 cycles bad, at 1.5 it's a pain to shoot.

Desporteriser, yeah that's what i had figured that they we're some kind of refurbing. I really love watching ww2 documentaries, especially the story behind the russians. And if this was as an example a finnish capture, it would mean this rifle would have went to war.

The two concentric circles are an accuracy quality check I believe or something like that. Finish capture would be stamped SA.

My svt wont cycle at 1.3 either but works great at 1.5. I suspect this will vary with diffrent ammo.
