Hello! Does anyone know if you can use Mosin nagant stripper clips in the svt 40? or is an svt 40 stripper clip dfferent? Who has stripper clips for these rifles in stock?>
also, im looking for somone in canada who has hornady 7.62x54r with a polymer tip.

any help would be appreciated

I did have some Mosin striper clips that one of my SVT's absolutely hated. Because I was at the range with only the one SVT, I figured they were crappy stripper clips or the SVT just hated them. Gonna try her next time on a different one

Moisin-Nagant and Tokarev rifles both used the same Charger.

How you LOAD said Charger does make a serious difference to getting the rounds into either rifle.

Russian/Soviet Chargers were loaded _-!-_. Think of a Pyramid. Rounds 1 and 5 lie flat against the bottom of the Charger. Rounds 2 and 4 are supported by their Rims. The inward-facing Rims of 2 and 4 support Number 3.

Somebody is bound to jump up now and say, "Well, I load them like THIS......."

All I'm telling you is how the Russian Army loaded the things.

They just MIGHT have known a few things about these rifles.

Great info, smellie!
I just got my chargers from Corwin and havent loaded up yet.
I was wondering how they are stacked. IIRC, you said the LE is done slightly differently.
_-_-_ , or DUDUD as in down up down up down

Somehow, it seems to defy logic. I thought for sure it would cause a rim-over hangup.

Any idea Smellie why they stack them like a pyramid? I would assume this would increase the chance of rim lock, specially anything without an interrupter.

^^^The Mosin DOES have an interrupter, though.

For kicks and grins, I loaded my MN chargers with the DUDUD pattern, and I had a hell of a time getting the rounds off the charger into the magazine. The pyramid pattern works MUCH better.

I haven't yet conducted the same experiment with my SVT40, although I have marked my chargers - the Mosin doesn't like certain ones for some reason.
