Hey everyone, I cant seem to find any solid info on the SVT-40 rifle pertaining scope mounts and scope capable svt-40 rifles...??? It looks like the so called "sniper" svt-40's were made in a very small quantity with the pre-machined slots on the bolt cover. I guess this question woul be guide towards the SFRC store.... Are your svt-40's capable to mount the old school sight mount on the back of the rifle??? To all, does anyone have any pics or websites i could check out??? I played with the SKS and Frankensteined it into a "Dragunov" but im not really happy with it. I'd love to get and SVT-40 and do some work to it and bring back a great rifle to the shooting world for todays shooter. Anyways, I'm looking for any info available out there and if am able to work something out, I will gladly post my pics about this great rifle.

Thx all and happy new year!

Scoping a svt is not cheap. If you want the real setup, you need a svt sniper,a repro mount and a repro or an original scope. Until 1942,svt have side grooves on receiver for scope mounting but the sniper version also have a notch on top of receiver to lock the mount in place, see pic below. You can mount the sniper mount on rifle that only have sides grooves but you will need to lock the mount one way or another. Not much option beside the sniper setup if you dont want to mess with the rifle. Modifiying the rifle to use somes other ways can be done but will cost you and nutz like me really dont like messing with a milsurp(bubba) That said, somes have done kinda like svd clone using svt but lot of work to do, and not cheap either..... Hope that will help a little:)

On pic, you can see the receiver groove and the small pin that lock the mount in place. The top of the rifle have a little notch so the pin lock the mount in place.

Ok, so lets see what else we can come up with...!!! SFRC's SVT-40's dont have the slots so does anyone know if we cant place a mount like the SKS/Dragunov mounts...side saddle style???

Yup that looks about right!!! If you take the Combo #1 from them you get everything required for a full mount set up. Not too bad tho.... looks like just a couple holes by the bolt area... Should be easy money to get it done. Thx for all the help. I'll post some pics when im done. I'll do a trial mount on my frankenstein SKS.

Let me know how it goes for you! I'm still waiting to order mine... The "queen" gets the last say... Where did you buy yours from???

Hello,
We just got a shipment of scopes and mounts for SVT-40 it is replica and it fits original rails. Most of the rifles that were made before 1942 have rails. If you do not have rails that go with a mount that Jocelyn suggested.
You can put POSP scope on it.
I am sold out on the scopes but I have some mounts in stock.
You can also mount PO scope on svt with this mount
Maybe another possibility, look here

With that mount, a svd scope can be used, but rifle will have to be altered a bit.
