I got SVT 40 and after taking it apart figure out that I need to get new Gas Cup and Piston and Recoil Springs. Any suggestion where good place to get them. Thank you

Good luck finding any SVT parts anywhere. I have never seen any SVT parts on EBAY (except scopes and slings). SVTs are rare and expensive in the US even if you could convince any US supplier who had parts to ship to Canada. A few Canadian sites list SVT parts but they have been "sold out" for several years at least. I would say it is hopeless.

What makes you think that the cup, piston and recoil springs are not serviceable?

I guess I'm wrong given the link posted while I was writing my post.

I've come to realize owning firearms like the svt, " one is none and two is one". Always have a spare rifle for parts, prudence demands it. Otherwise if something breaks, all one is left with is a club.

Like mentioned above... get the stainless steel set from ppsh.com , Ive been running a set in my SVT/SVD for a year now and it works like a charm! recoil springs are another story... youll have to buy another SVT to get those.....

Numrich gun parts has nearly every SVT-40 part in stock. Just go to manufacturer T and choose Tokarev. Some of the old firearms are listed by designer (in the case of the SVT-38 and 40, Fedor Tokarev).

Most of the parts are newly made. Yes, they ship to Canada. Yes, they have recoil springs.

For the SVT, many parts are actually used - check the descriptions. Because gun parts and certain accessories are subject to ITAR export controls, they automatically include a $35 export-paperwork charge in shipping costs on every order from Canada, but if an order is only exempt items (accessories, web gear, etc.) the $35 is deducted before payment is processed. Therefore, if you are ordering anything from them that might be subject to the export controls (they can tell you if you 'phone them and inquire), it may be worthwhile to order EVERYTHING that you might be considering that's controlled in one order so you only incur one of those processing charges. I recently did this with a bunch of SVT and Mosin parts, not all of which I would have otherwise gotten now, figuring it was cheaper to get everything that I am most likely to lose or break rather than paying an extra $35 every time I actually need something, or worse yet, find them unavailable. This was in addition to getting a set of the stainless parts (I think I lucked into his last set of springs) from PPSH41.

Joel

I ordered 5 or 6 parts last year and every part was newly machined. I guess it's just a matter of which part you order or what they can source at any given time.

Could be. A couple of my spring guides might have been unissued, but most parts showed at least some wear and/or pitting, and my gas regulator was pitted and had noticeable erosion on at least one of the ports (1.2??).

Can you post pics of newly machined svt parts? I really doubt they are new made.

OP. Che k ebay, there's a guy from BC who sells a lot of svt parts on the permanent basis.

I would but I am lazy. I actually confirmed this with Numrich at the time of order when I phoned my order in. I asked about two of the parts and the condition and they said "You don't need to worry because the parts you mentioned are newly machined." then she mentioned that the gas system components like the regulator and cylinder are surplus and have some corrosion. If you think I may have been mislead, I suggest you phone and talk to one of their engineers / shop guys, they can clear it up either way. One of the parts I remember them telling me explicitly was newly machined was: 42 713710 Handguard Band.

I think they misled you. I'm 99% sure. Check if you see any proof marks on the band, if so it's original part. If no - still most likely original part, just heavily refinished. Except for springs and stainless piston from PPSH41 I'm not aware about any newly made parts.

Anyway, for those who looking for parts just go to eBay dot com and search for "svt-40" you'll see a lot of parts coming from Canada.

The gas regulator they have pictured looks fairly pitted... its great to see they have almost all the parts IN STOCK ! :D its also amazing how much they want for the wood furniture... $177 and its out of stock.

Ya some of the gas system parts are severly corroded! And if you order them you are taking a gamble on if they are servicable parts or not. I would still go with ppsh.com's new stainless parts if still available. It's good that Numerich still have parts though.

My SVT seems to have a almost all new gas system from the refurb process. The regulator and piston were full of grease and when cleaned looked to be in brand new condition. Lucky!
