I am using instructions I got off of the internet for disassembling/reassembling the rifle for cleaning
( http://www.surplusrifle.com/svt40/index.asp ). The problem is, is that they don't show very good pics of how to remove the trigger group. I know that I have to open the trigger group release cover, but after that I get confused. There is a kind of a round small tube that rotates and can be moved a little recessed in a round space that is part of the upper reciever.
As well when I bought the rifle off of a fellow CGN'er I was told that it was a reproduction from Marstar, but I found what looks like the russian arsenal stamping for Tula (Arrow in Star) and the date 1943.
Finally I have a sling for the rifle but can't figure out how it is to go on. I have a buckle on one end and a loop on the other. I think I have a bad sling but I'm not sure.
Thanks for all your help.

To remove the trigger group, flip up the cover on the back of the reciever, then using a bullet (or something else thats round) press it into the exposed hole. The idea is that you want the small inner tube to move back, as that will release the trigger group.

The ones from Marstar were imported from somewhere in Europe and were manufactured in the USSR. The seller probably meant that it was a refurbed one brought in by Marstar. If it's refurbed it will have been reblued and probably has force matched numbers.

I don't know if you may have a Nagant sling, as that is the type that comes with most of these rifles. The proper SVT sling should look like this

and should be pretty self explanitory as to how it attaches...
