Pecheneg: A quick look at the EE shows 11 for sale on the first 3 pages. If you're looking for something specific I suspect a "WTB" posting would get you some responses. Is that your rifle pictured and is it an authentic sniper version?
600 to 800 avg on EE.... for a Podolsk maybe be slightly more if it's nice or something rare. Snipers are or should be over $1400+ now if original. I made up a railed mo notch Izvesk into a sniper with a repro mount and 1950's production scope. Somehow it holds zero without the notch due to the tightness of the rail. Downside I can probably never take the mount off or it will loosen. I can live with that. As for costs I paid about $450 for the rifle then because it had my birth year as the serial number and about $400 for the scope and mount. There are others but it's my favourite. The SVT is a great rifle.
EE is your best bet, get ready for sticker shock if it’s a real svt sniper you want. I’m still kicking myself for not buying one when they we’re in the $700-750 range...
I bought mine from Tradex a number of years ago now. I actually bought a few from them. You payed a little more but I was able to pick which ones I wanted. This sniper SVT 40 is original although the mount/scope is a clone. I remember it being hard to justify paying the extra for the sniper at the time. Looking at the current price, it's a good thing I went on my SVT 40 binge when I did.
This one is a 1941 Tula. Original notch and in an AVT marine stock which does have one repair on the right side of the receiver. One note was that the metal looked in perfect condition and even the trigger was very stiff and felt new. This rifle unlike some of my others, felt unfired.
On a side note, you can reload for these. Lapua 7.62x53R brass is the same as 7.62x54R brass. They just measure slightly differently, but the cases are the same. Also most bores for the SVT are 303, but you may want to do a check as some are closer to 308. In any case you can get 173 SMK in 303. I've loaded some of these up with Varget. I plan on testing out the sniper version with these rounds.
They were meant to be shot when they were affordable, nothing much has changed except the price. Shoot it, clean it, enjoy it. Just don’t abuse it, all of my surplus guns get shot and none of them look any different than when I bought them.
