Hi everyone Tradex has svt 40 for 225 plus tax and shiping small crack in stock listed as in very good condt.I think the price is right so ordered on ,dont think they will last long at this price

Dunno. I think caution is indicated. Fine if it's fixable and you can do a really good job, but if not, you won't find a replacement stock and less collector value in a rifle with a cracked stock. Then, a rifle with a marginal stock isn't the kind of thing you want to shoot a lot either. I paid more for mine and don't regret it.

It is AMAZING what you can do with a few drops of Acra-Glas Gel (or any of several other epoxy products) and a 4-inch clamp and a couple of washcloths to pad things.

Flush the crack thoroughly with brake-drum cleaner, wipe dry and let stand for an hour, then spread the crack, work in your mixed Acra-Glas with a finger until the crack is full, then apply your washcloths and start doing up the Clamp. If some of the glue (Acra-Glas) pumps up out of the crack, you will KNOW that it is completely filled and a perfect repair is under way. Finish doing the Clamp hand-tight and let stand for 24 hours, remove Clamp and padding, clean down any solidified glue which s sticking up. Let stand another 48 hours, take it out and have fun.

Should be no problem at all, old son!

Hope she's a good shooter; that would be right proper t'ing!
.

hope she is a good shooter as well, talked to tony he said the crack was bearly noticeable and its only wood im sure it can be fixed quite easily as smelli pointed out there are as many diferent typ[es of wood glues as there are rifles it seems.ill post some pics of it when it arrives ontil then its a waiting game

Got one a few years ago from Tradex for $299, it's still one of the most prized rifles in my collection. IMHO, you can't go wrong with Tradex, I think they are among the best dealers in Canada.

Hope she turns out good, they are a blast to shoot. I took my moose last fall with one at around 190 yds, she dropped in her tracks. With regards to Trade-Ex, Anthony is the guy I buy from, you can't beat their service and their rifles are always better than he tells you, he also got the best ammo deals I can find. Cheers.

yes i have bought several rifles from Tony and no complaints here they always turn out as good or better than i expected.Droped mine with the swiss K31 ,tradex now as gp11 ammo may have to get some. The svt should be here soon

As someone who has seen a headstock repaired on a Gibson Les Paul, let me tell you that the repair will be stronger than the rest of the wood once done correctly. I love deals where I get to fix something and it costs me less money.

thats right dave the fixing part is quite interesting and the satifaction you get from that makes it worth it in its self. I just love the takeing apart ,cleaning and reparing if needed
