Svt-40

I apologize for the late bump. I am still in the market for one, does any Shop place have SVT 40 refurbs in stock currently? Or did we hit a drought and no more new stock entering the country? I have not seen them in stock on Stores I could find searching on Google for hours.
Halifax Army Navy just got in a small batch. $800-$850

I know Canadiantire use to sell them a couple years back. Might get lucky and find a store with them. My local store still has the odd milsurp.

I have a couple I'll probably try to sell as my interests are shifting to other types but, frankly, I don't have a clue what to ask for them. Businesses seem to post them at brutally high prices and they seem to disappear. Individuals post SVT's at much more reasonable prices and, as Brookwood says, they seem to hang around. I guess the market is still trying to sort itself out.

Exactly! Business seem to put up run of the mill refurbs for the $700-900 mark and they dis-appear like BBQ smoke on a windy day, but the private sales sit on the EE at the $550 mark with 5 or 6 'btt' bumps....even though there's WTB adds and members posting in threads that they're looking to buy at any price. What am I not seeing?

I only ask because I too have a few safe queens that I'd like to move along for someone else to enjoy, but I can't make heads or tales of what to ask for them based on what I'm seeing lately.

>private sales sit on the EE

I'm feeling that pain.

Worst thing is that most of the actual inquires I've had have been from people who's post history smells like "re-seller", meaning that they know they can sell it for more than I have it posted for. More skill at add-crafting would probably help.

I got to know the SVT from Call of Duty World At War the ww2 game from years back...the SVT w/scope was my fave to use semi...and the mosin was my fave bolt action in the game...for non-us rifles anyway...Garands are too rich for my blood :)

I see Garands blow up in people’s hands on YouTube. I don’t want one. I prefer the Russian stuff.

>Garands blow up in people’s hands

Given that it's old technology, and that (from what I see posted) there's folks willing to pay a significant amount of money for it, I wouldn't be surprised to see a thriving market in counterfeit parts.

A country in a world war short on weapons that can only arm 1 in 3 soldiers at a time left rifles on the shelf unfurled. That sounds really stupid. If they were built before 1946 they were fired.

Unfired, in this context, means it has not been fired since it came out of the crate. I doubt anyone is dense enough to think a war time gun was never fired. At least not at the prices asked. Guns are all fired for proof at the factory.
