By good fortune I was at Epps on Wednesday (the first time there in probably six or eight months) and just felt like asking about the price of the SVT 40 on the rack.
When I heard the price, I took a look at it and chose to buy it shortly thereafter.
Basically, it was an arsenal refurb, with a minor but well done repair in the stock. The bore might have been less than perfect (I'll have to pull the boresnake through her to be sure) but it had strong rifling and should be fine. Dated 1941, it looked as though it may have had more machine marks in the metal than I'm used to seeing, but it was nothing to worry about. I haven't done a side by side comparison with my other SVT, purchased from Tradeex when they first got them, but it's a nice rifle in any case and I'm glad I got it!
Cheers,
Frank
