It's been awhile since I shot one. Can someone remind me how they are on brass? Just wondering if I should reload for it.

Not horrible, but they definitely beat it up. I found the fluting in the chamber mainly dented right at the neck, but wasn't too deep. If you tune your gas system to the round it might be a little more gentle?

I have heard of some guns that would only give two reloads on though, so it might be a case by case thing.

I've reloaded 3 times with my brass, but I full length size it. The dents come out in the resizing, but the brass wears down faster. I've also found that mag primers give better groups for whatever reason. I use 4895, maybe the powder/primer combo??

How far do you guys find it throwing your brass?
I just fired mine for the first time on the weekend, and was surprised to see it only tosses them a very few feet.
Not like the AG-42 Ljungman!

All my brass lands within about 7 feet and it looks like I will be able to reload it. The necks are scored but not too bad.

Mine flutes the brass so bad you can only get 2-3 reloads.

I have seen others (Glang) that hardly flute them at all. A big selling feature if George ever decides to sell his :) (to me for example)

Sounds like brass condition is variable, so I'll have to check how the brass comes out of the one I'm shooting. I previously shot surplus ammo and never paid attention to the brass. Thanks.

I only had a chance to blow some steel cased Czech through mine, not any brass.
The steel seemed fine, but I guess that would be expected.

Yeah, your right Bruce, I did get lucky with my SVT-40. I have noticed that I have to check the brass carefully for signs of case head separation after several reloads. I use a bent paper clip to feel inside the case for the tiny crack about 3/16 of an inch from the bottom of the case. I only load starting loads for this rifle, & have the gas valve set at 1.3. Case head separation is a pita to clear without a stuck-case tool. Anyone have one they want to sell?

Don't worry Bruce, you'll be first on the list if I ever want to sell it (NOT) :D
