svt40 not firing PRC ammo

Hey guys I purchased an SVT40/PRC ammo package from one of our site sponsors. It turns out my rifle wont fire the ammo so now Im stuck with 880 rounds of ammo I cant use in this rifle. I have tried Russian ammo I purchased from Westrifle and it fires flawlessly. Can someone tell me why one type of ammo sucks and one is really good? I have fired the PRC stuff out of 2 mosins and it worked really well. When the PRC ammo is extracted out of the SVT40 it has a pretty deep strike mark on the primer so in theory it should fire. Is there something I could try? I have upped the gas setting but I don't think that has anything to do with it. I have asked the seller of the rifle to send me a new hammer spring and he hasn't responded so I think im stuck with lots of ammo I cant use

What do you mean it won't fire? Like it literally does not fire the ammo? Click when it should have gone bang? Or does it not cycle?

well it wont fire as in no bang, the primer has a strike mark but no bang.

X2. the cosmoline in the bolt can create enough drag that "Hard" primers like in the PRC ammunition will not detonate properly.

Clean your bolt out really good and try again.

yes I cleaned the cosmoline 3 times. What gets me is why it will fire Russian ammo without a single ftf and with the PRC I got literally 1 out of 25-30 rounds to fire but the PRC fires awesome out of the mosins.

I have seen a lot of SVTs that will not fire that ammo. I have had 3 myself and all the same.I believe the primers are harder. I had that discussion with a guy at Wanstalls. He said he had heard a lot about that issue. The same ammo will fire in you Mosin. I don't buy the PRC stuff anymore. Clean the hell out of your bolt an it still will ot always fire.

had the same issue with mine seems that the primers just don't work with the svt40 but it works perfect in the mosin nagant

well I sent this guy an email telling him about the issue, maybe he will stop offering PRC ammo with his svt 40's as a package.

Russian rifle need Russian ammo. We are running low for that ammo you should buy more if you need it. You can also buy Russian surplus that we have.
