svt40 wanted!

I seen 3 at the last gunshow I was at. They were asking $395, which is quite a bit. Last year I got a nice tula 1941 stv40 for $320 with 200 rounds of ammo at a gunshow.
 
Yes, the prices on SVT-40s has gone up, almost twice what I paid for mine a couple years ago.

However, have you seen what they are paying in the US for an average SVT ??? The amount will curl your chest hairs... provided you have any. LOL
 
I just bought one from lever arms. $375, good luck finding a cheaper one. I know lever has a really bad rap on here and I was a little nervous because of it, but it was a really smooth deal.

I just looked at mar stars and yes they did sell out the one with a scope rail sold for $650! Not a sniper just an early model with scope rail. A couple years ago they were $275.
 
SVT pricing got skewed 2x years ago with the Big Lever Arms Christmas sale. Lever sold them at $200 and there are many people who will never forget that $200 pricing. Even last week I read a post with someone whinging about the bayonets costing more than the rifles. But people forget - this was a sale price.

Only 6x years ago SVTs sold for $550 - at par or slightly more expensive than RC K98's available at the same time. Prices have come down with supply on SVT's but prices are steadily rising with increased demand and decreasing Canadian supply. I don't think that the SVT's will ever have the same nostalgia as the infamous K98 - but the design and history of the SVT rifles are pretty cool. I am pretty positive that eventually prices of SVT's will be close to the price of RC K98's once again.

Heck look at Soviet M38's and M44's - they used to be the discount Mosin Nagants and prices have doubled and even tripled.

Get one now - you are closer to needing to pay $500 for a rifle than you are to paying $200 anytime soon.
 
I seen some a couple weeks ago from $325.00 to $375.00 depending on condition and scope rails, they all had a couple or more stock repairs.
