What's going on with the pricing on these I got my 3 for $225 to $275 each now I see them for $900+ and they seem to be not great

Same thing that happened with Enfields, M-1 Garands, K-31 etc... No more cheap supplies left on the surplus market.

I haven't seen too many sell at $900 unless they were special. Going rate appears to be $600-700. Where I think they'll stay. They are a lot of fun to shoot though!

Prices have come up considerably although there are still some good deals on SVT40's through the secondary market and on the EE. I saw a great deal on a Sniper SVT-40 on the EE just recently. Surpised no one has snatched it up. Lol!

Podolsk aren't that rare, there is a fair bit of them in Canada (I have personally seen at least 10 and I don't really look for them).

The reality is the price on SVT-40s has gone up and down over the past while. I bought mine for 450$ about 6 years ago. A couple years after that SVT-40s were available for 200$. Now they have gone back up again.

The thing is Canada is one of the few markets than can benefit from these rifles. The USA won't import them, and other nations have stricter regulations on firearms ownership (i.e. no semis, etc.). That leaves us in a good place for pricing.

SVT40s may have some value for military collectors ; but there are lots of rifles around far better than an SVT40 for 900 bucks . I guess everyone has their preferences .
How many fire the relatively cheap and powerful 7.62x54R? How many are semi-auto? If you've got one with a VG bore and it works as it should, it is a joy to shoot. One of my favourites. A real conversation piece and attention getter at the range too.
