Just came back from the store.
Bought a Sw 627. Damn it looks liek a great revolver. Can't wait to get it in and test it.
Only negative is that the grips look a bit samll...
We shall see.

Just had to share that :)

Congratulations!!!!!

Which one did you buy Rodg, the two-tone or the plain stainless one? Either way that's a nice revo. One of the few 357/38 cal that takes moonclip out of the box.
Keep us updated! :)

I liquidated my other S&W holdings (629 and 686) to buy one of these and it was worth it. A 627PC was on my 'want' list for a while and I don't regret it. I now have one revolver that I seldom shoot instead of two, but when I do take it out, woo hoo !!!

I have put about 3.5K rounds through mine, about 1K .38 and 2.5K .357. I like the grip but I have hands on the smaller side. I prefer the magnums while my wife shoots the specials. She likes the grip as well. Nice handling and shooting gun for sure but the matte surface varnishes up on the front and front sides of the cylinder and is a real pain to get off without some light cleaning with a brass brush. I don't know if all Smiths are this way, but the button cap that holds the cylinder release knob works its way loose regularly. I finally got so fed up that I used a touch of blue locktite on it. The screw at the front holding down the rear sight assembly tends to come loose too. Just have to keep tightening it down. I just picked up a 629 recently and noticed that the cap screw was loose on the cylinder release knob on it after about 300 rounds of .44 mag as well. Another dab of locktite. Are these just standard maintenance issues on the Smiths or is there a better way to keep things tight? They are still my favourite guns but then again I am really partial to revolvers.

Congrats, RR!
I know you've been looking to get one for a while now. Did you still get the 5" unfluted?
The grips might look smaller 'cause of the "N" frame. Feels the same as the 686 and 5" unfluted (to me).
