SW99, the good, bad or ugly?

Anyone have the good, bad or ugly on these S&W 99's in .45 Is it me or are they almost the same as a Walther P99? Im looking for a auto for valentine gift for my wife (I bought her a norinco HP9 '14 bbl shotgun for a wedding present last 'Aug) She has small hands, and liked the walther P99.

Who has them forsale and what are they goin for?

Thanks for any input

Andy

Small hands + 45ACP + 'reasonable' price = Taurus 24/7 or Ruger 345...
Do some research and try before you buy if possible.
Both seem to be good value....both are pretty 'snappy' as one would expect in a 45ACP in a gun of this size and weight.....
For what it's worth, and not having shot the 99, , the S&W 99 is considered 'obsolete'...the M&P in 45ACP is the direct 'replacement' for the 99.

S&W99 or Walther 99 are practically the same (in my opinion). Walther helped design the S&W.

I think the Taurus 24/7 is also very nice.

Does she do alot of shooting already? is that why you are thinking .45?

I've heard that the Walther P99s are not quite as reliable as the competition (Sig or HK). But, I've also heard the people really like the ergonomics. I guess I would recommend that, if you do end up buying one, then to make sure you get it from a reputable dealer who will help you out in the event of a problem with the gun.

Thanks for the input so far.

We were at target sports last weekend, and she did handle the taurus 24/7 and she liked that one too. Target has them @ $640 i believe. I have heard some nasty stuff about taurus and their warrentee's though?

She also liked the S&W MP9 which Epps has on sale for $670 i believe too.

Anyone seen cheaper prices for the MP9 or 24/7 ?

Thanks again

Andy

45ACP in this size and style of platform is not really for the novice shooter.
If she likes the style/grip, I would go with the 24/7 in 9MM, or else the M&P,
also in 9MM.
Nothing puts off a new shooter more quickly than recoil...
Too many shooters 'move up' too quickly...get the basics ingrained first.....

Interesting Valentine Day gift...

They would have to be half the price of a Norinco for me to buy one in Canada. I've heard it is next to impossible to get parts in Canada for them so unless you can get 2 for the price of 1 to have the second for parts only I wouldn't be getting one.

X2 on the 45ACP version, as much as I love the 45ACP. It might be a bit heavy on recoil for such a small and light gun. If you reload your own ammo then you could lighten that down though.
