A lady friend of mine asked me about SW polymer 9mm value enhanced pistol. I've watched a couple good reviews and read some online reviews but haven't given one a good range test myself. So how are they? Good bad and ugly. Any comments?

That is a reasonable price for them, it's exactly what I paid 1.5 years ago,, still haven't shot it, I got it for my wife and she decided she liked the look of my Walther PPX better,, it's a sweet shooting pistol!

I had the .40...slide was very nicely machined...the trigger was everything you read about it...needs improving...sights were average but worked....otherwise not bad value for money....

Terrible trigger... If you are used to a good 4.5 lb Sig SA trigger like me, it was a humbling experience. Stiff, creepy, spongy break. Sold it soon after buying it. If you are serious about the pistol, buy the trigger kit.

Otherwise, it's a good gun for the money but in my opinion, the trigger kit will be a must for most owners. Your experience may vary.

I only dried fired one at a store but didn't really mind the trigger. not that much different from M&P. I considered getting one but I have a Glock 17gen4 so likely wouldn't shoot it that much.

I bought one of these on sale as my first pistol. The trigger is about 9 lbs and feels spongy out of the box. I bought the Apex Tactical enhanced action trigger and also Apex Tactical trigger spring kit. This combination made for a trigger just under 5 lbs with zero overtravel (if you have the patience to fit the enhanced action trigger properly.) After upgrades it feels very Glock like. I personally just can't get used to the sight picture and have not fired it in a while. Overall the build quality is very good for the price, however if you put the time and money into making it equivalent to a Glock, you could have just bought a Glock which is what I would up doing (I since got a Glock 22 along with a CZ Shadow which is my favorite.) I still have the Smith and will probably still use it, but if I could do it again I would buy a Glock 17 instead.

I know my LGS has these for 400 bucks. Part of me would like to get one and torture test it. When I say that I don't mean throw it in mud or do other absurd things to it. I mean do regular cleanings but otherwise just run as many rounds through it as possible and see how long it takes for it to no longer function. We always hear about the high dollar guns you can run 10000+ rounds through without a hitch. I'd be curious to know how a bargain basement gun holds up by comparison.

I have shot a couple of them and think they are a great buy. Trigger is heavy but once you shoot it a while and get used to it you could shoot some really good groups. I wouldn't hesitate. I like to call it "the poor man's glock 19".:)
