I’m about to buy one of these and was wondering if anybody has used both?
If so, is one better than the other? Why?

I can get the RCBS for $50 , cheaper.

But I don’t mind spending the extra cash on the Dillon, if it’s better.

Thanks

I've only used the Dillon, and it was great. It took me a little while to set it up since it didn't come with instructions. After 2-3 wrecked cases I got it all sorted out, and I am very happy with it.

Internet reviews are good on the RBCS, but I’d like to know why one is $50 US more.

Is it just the name? Or do one do something better than the other?

They both work but the RCBS is slower to use. I did not care for the RCBS because it would often stick in tight primer pockets and it took a sharp push on the press handle to free it. The Dillon I still have and have had excellent results using it. For a production point of view the Dillon is worth the extra money in my view.

I have the Dillon mounted to my bench. I find it much faster to use than my buddy's RCBS. IIRC, they both have lifetime "no bs" guarantees, so that's a wash.

Just remember if you buy either one you will need to sort the brass by head stamp and type case.

The thickness of the flash hole web will govern the adjustment to not over swage the primer pocket.

If you have a hand primer pocket reamer you can use it as a GO NO-GO when adjusting the amount of swaging. Or you can also use pin gauges to check the primer pocket.

If the primer feels loose when seating I use a Lee decapping tool and if the primer moves with just finger pressure the case gets scrapped.

Ok here’s my 2 cents I had a couple and honestly they are just bull sh@t and junk
If you buy one Dillon all the way
I just got mine 2 weeks ago and what a joy to use I ask my self why in the hell didn’t I buy one right off the bat
Ah it’s sweet and don’t mind swaging military brass one bit

I’ve been running the Dillon Super Swage for close to ten years now.
It’s a quality tool and makes short work of making servicible brass from military cases!!

As others have commented, sorting by headstamp helps achieve nice consistent primer pockets.

I bought a SwageIt for my 650... Little pricey but well worth it. I can resize, swage, trim and inside neck size 223 at over 1000 pieces per hour. Time is money and this stuff saves me tons of time.

That sounds interesting:)
Gotta check that out.

I was thinking about doing this as well till I learned that this item was unauthorized modification to the machine, and installation of one on a Dillon machine voids the life time warranty.

That life time/no question bs warranty is the only reason I still run the XL650.
