Swap 300 blackout to 223/556 AR? Just a Barrel needed?

I'm well aware of that. Given the complete lack of details in his post, you can't assume he has a piston upper at all.
His edit makes it sound like he's probably talking about the gas tube, but his terminology is off.
From what I have read online regarding different barrel lengths that you have to change the piston tube. Am not well versed in the AR platform. I've been shooting pistols for the last 10 yrs.
I figured there has to be a few members that have to swap overs. Just want to know if I have to make whole lots changes or if its straight forward barrel swap
223/556 ammo prices and availability is why am interested in that caliber instead of the 300 blackout. It's a nice setup buddy has but I'd like to use it as my main rifle to practice with before getting into more complicated AR builds. 300 blackout seems too expensive.
"Gas tube", not "piston tube".
Depending on the gas system length and gas block journal diameter of the .223 barrel, you may or may not need to replace the gas tube and/or gas block.
So typically the barrel swap is the main component to change? The orginal bolt carrier group would be fine?
Depending on a number of things, buffer and buffer spring may change
Yes. You can always have the headspace checked if it concerns you, but it's not likely to be a problem.
