What "gas piston" are you referring to?
From what I have read online regarding different barrel lengths that you have to change the piston tube. Am not well versed in the AR platform. I've been shooting pistols for the last 10 yrs.
223/556 ammo prices and availability is why am interested in that caliber instead of the 300 blackout. It's a nice setup buddy has but I'd like to use it as my main rifle to practice with before getting into more complicated AR builds. 300 blackout seems too expensive.
"Gas tube", not "piston tube".
Depending on the gas system length and gas block journal diameter of the .223 barrel, you may or may not need to replace the gas tube and/or gas block.
So typically the barrel swap is the main component to change? The orginal bolt carrier group would be fine?
