I want to see if my old sight-less Marlin will even shoot after my backyard amateur gunsmith restoration job is finally complete and I can easily enough get a front sight, but I was wondering if my old Redfield receiver sight on my Model 94 will fit? I'd like to try that before buying a new one.

The sight is very much like the current Lyman brand.

I see in the SIR catalogue that the Williams brand receiver sight is the same model number for both guns.

It should be the same. I just bought a Williams for my 44 magnum Marlin and the number of the sight is 94. I have it mounted on the Marlin.
About 30 years ago I put a Williams Fool Proof on a 94, a 50s something model that was drilled for the sight. The new Williams is not called a Fool Proof anymore. At first glance it looks like the old one, but from there on all similarity ends!

I've tried it but have had difficulty with the minimum height of the peep being too high for the stock front sight.
