Swaping AR uppers, do I need to change buffers as well?

I have a Colt 20" HBAR upper that I would like to put on my LMT 16" MRP CQB defender lower for testing some reloads at longer ranges. I got the LMT rifle as a factory package.

I have not swaped AR uppers before so I need some advice on what buffer weight the MRP would have installed and what type I would need for the 20" upper.

Thanks.

If you have a quality and proper buffer package, you are good to go. I think the issue is more so if you go to something shorter like a CQB or PDW length.

I think (but might be wrong) that buffer selection matters more with F/A than it does in semi. High speed cycling may be affected on F/A with an incorrect buffer for your setup. Since most of us don't have F/A, you should be good.

Thank you for your replys. I was not sure if the buffer could be a problem when going to a longer barrel and gas system. I will use my LMT buffer and see how it goes.

Thank you.
