Hi have a a question that may have been covered a thousad times before, but here it is.I have a standard norc 1911 .45 and an N/P 29, is it possible to swith the slide assemblies to there fore switch the calibers easily?.

Jerry.

There's two things that need to match up. First the slide rails need to be compatible to within a reasonable fit. Certainly not tight but you don't want them to have an overly sloppy fit either. Second is the barrel link. The links come in three or so sizes of very slightly differing hole center to hole center lengths. The length of link you need depends on the reach from the barrel to the hole in the slide. Get it wrong and bad things generally occur sooner rather than later.

So all in all I'd have to say that it's likely not a wise idea unless you want the two top ends to fit ONLY one frame. If that is the case for some reason then you can have the links fitted to each barrel to work with ONE frame. But the odds of it fitting your other frame are minimal. If the links on each top end turn out to be matched then count yourself VERY lucky from what I understand.

One other thing that requires attention. The ejector on the 45 frame & on the 9mm frame are slightly different. Different enough that if you want to change the top end then the ejector on the frame has to match.

Swapping slides lets you create a multi-caliber gun.:)

It is possible to use a NP-29 frame with a .45 ACP slide if the ejector cut in the slide is modified or if the ejector is thinned to clear the .45 slide.

This is my Norkenstein.
It has a NP-29 frame. It shoots .38 Super, 38 Special wadcutter, 9mm, and .45 ACP it can also wear a Kart .22LR top-end.

I am working on a 7.62X25 long-slide for it!
