So, time to use my allotment of stupid questions for the day.....

I've got an XDm40, absolutely love the pistol but I've decided to stick to 9mm and 45. The 40 is just too snappy for me (I know, call me a wimp:redface:).

I was going to sell it and buy a XDm9 but a guy I know said it's simply a matter of swapping barrels...I can use mags and everything else and have a 9mm.

So, am I on crack, is their another cheaper alternative to selling and buying another one from Darren???

Thanks

there are caliber conversion specific barrels
visit stormlakebarrel.com to see their many options, add50USD to the price you see and Questar will automaticly process it for you. Simple, easy, affordable, good barrels with lots of options

In your case, it is possible to get a 9mm barrel for 40sw gun, I just did a mock order (note: no threading is selected, there are a couple pitches offered) and here's what you get:

Not overly concerned about 1 shot kills...the paper around these parts are pretty weak, and I've got my AR, 45 and 357 for zombie time. I'm talking about a couple hundred rounds in an afternoon of fun and how the snap of the 40 gets tiring after a while.

Actually, after thinking about this even if I can swap barrels I still will need new mags, just like my 22 conversion kit for my 45....brain fart on that one!!!

Yeah, I hear that all the time....actually was the reason I bought a couple 40's, got tired of being called a wimp for using my girly caliber!!! I know a couple guys who are adamant you need 40 for stopping power ?!?!?!?

as for a 9 being a wimp caliber, will it kill somebody? the germans used it in all wars, we have a 9mm as our forces pistol if i remember correctly. and your letting other people decide what caliber you buy based on them making fun of you? you buy what you like, if soembody else doesnt like it at least you still have a gun.

On some of my pistols, the 9mm and 40 mags are the same. the 9 just holds more rounds.

Try some 9mm in you mags and see if they work.

As for 40 being "snappy", I agree. I was shooting both calibers the othe day and was shocked at how much more kick the 40 had. But you can load the ammo milder. No one says you have to shoot full power.
