I couldnt find the answer anywhere in the search results or the stickies, but I'm sure this has probably been answered in the past.

Is it possible to put a 2009 norc plastic stock on a 2009 poly rifle with no negative affects on the rifle's accuracy?

There shouldn't be a problem but you should check out some of the online manuals for the M-14 which detail a function test to be performed whenever reassembling the rifle, that among other things ensures that the stock fit isn't interfering with the function of the hammer. I suppose you'd especially want to perform that test with a new stock.

By and large, the synthetic stock is an improvement over the soft wood found on the earlier Norincos. That said, a far more knowledgable friend of mine whose worked on many M305 platforms says that the stock mould seems to have been slightly off, causing the front stock ferrule to to make contact with the plate located along the barrel around the gas system. That contact point could effect the rifle's accuracy in a way that leads to vertical stringing downwards as the rifle heats up from several shots. That appeared to be the case with the otherwise good groups that I was getting from my rifle, which according to my friend suffered from the aforementioned contact point.

I'd certainly be curious as to whether any M14 afficionadoes out there ever came across the same thing, especially since it might truly answer the OPs fundamental question about accuracy.

Regards,

Frank
