Howdy folks. How difficult is it to swap SVT receivers? Are there specific things to watch out for. How hard is it to break the barrel free? Replies and suggestions are warmly welcomed.

HAHA, he wanted to know as I was selling an SA stamped receiver.

For reference to anyone.
Removing the gas block is easy, just punch out that little rectangular key.
The rear sight is easy, just tap out s small pin and tap the sight assembly off.
Breaking the barrel free took considerable effort. And that was with a pipe wrench. (the barrel was bad)
Not sure how hard it would be to index the barrel again. Could be tough. Probably not terrible with a pipe wrench but it would mark the barrel. But that would be hidden under the wood when reassembled. Just dont use the sight base portion to put your wrench.

replacing the barrel will be the easy part . doing the headspace might be a problem. not all locking shoulders are the same size.

Thanks for the replies. I chose to keep her as is. The receiver was drilled and tapped by the previous owner and it ticks me off looking at it, I don't know what he was thinking:mad:. Anyhow, she's a good shooter so I guess I'll leave good enough alone. Cheers.
