Swarovski repair is excellent to deal with. Turn-arounds are relatively quick (depends on whether the item can be repaired at SONA's facility in the US, or if it has to go back to Austria). I have had items returned within three weeks.
The only time you pay shipping is if the item is not eligible under the warranty terms. Swarovski will always inform you if this is the case, and will provide you with a precise total for repair and shipping.

They will require the model and serial number. Receipt/proof of purchase is not required, and Swarovski warranty is transferrable.
They will ask you for an email address, through which they can send you a pre-paid FedEx international waybill - this makes shipping controlled items such as riflescopes very easy.
You package the item up, put the waybill in an shipping envelope on the outside and either drop the package off at a FedEx depot, or schedule a pick-up.
Once the item has been received, Swarovski will notify you of the date that it has been received by the Repair Department.
A follow-up email will detail whether the repair is covered by the warranty, and if not, the associated cost. If there is a cost, Swarovski will not proceed until the customer approves the repair.
