I must say, my Dad has some cool stuff hidden away. He asked me to post pictures of this scope and learn/confirm some information. Apparently, this is a Swedish sniper scope. Can anyone say for sure which rifle this should be mounted on? Is it true that these were not numbered to the rifles? Dad would like to either find a proper sniper rifle that happens to be missing the scope (not bloody likely), or drill a decent rifle and mount the scope to it. Opinions? Also, what should this scope bring should he ever decide to sell it on it's own? Thanks.

More markings on the focus ring (sorry, I cut off the first A - should be AGA 3X65)

Crappy photo of the reticle.

Obviously it is junk and you need to sell it to me so I can "dispose" of it on my Swedish Mauser...I'll offer you $75.00, and cover the shipping. :p :D

On a serious note that is one hell of a find! :) :dancingbanana:

It's a Swedish AGA m/42 scope that was mounted on m/96 rifles, to create the m/41 sniper rifle in the 1940's.

The original sniper rifle they used was the m/41B, which mounted the German Ajack 4x90 scope (until the SS stopped shipments to Sweden). It was the forerunner of the m/41 sniper rifle which used the AGA m/42 followed by the AGA m/44 scopes made in Sweden. I've never seen an m/41 sniper rifle mounted with either of those AGA scopes, where the scope mount set matched the rifle serial number, as it should on the m/41B. The bracket sets on the AGA scopes are normally matched, but the scopes themselves maintained their own serial numbers on all of the m/41b and m/41 snipers. What that means to you is that you could find a nice m/96 infantry rifle and have a gunsmith mount this for you, creating a nifty "clone".

There's a big demand for these scopes in the U.S., so I'd put it on eBay, or in the private section of GB to get maximum value. Normally, the glass on all of the m/42's I've seen are somewhat milky due to moisture getting in, which I think they tried to address in the m/44.

It could go for over a $1,000 to a collector of Swedes, who happens to see it and already has an m/41 sniper rifle missing its scope. The beauty of yours is that you still have the mounts with the scope. Are there matching numbers on both scope rings, as well as the ends of the actual mount?

Here's a photo montage of a piece using the scope you have.

Since we are on the Swede topic, are there Swede replica style mounts available so one can make a 'fake' sniper? I would like to have one, but can't afford the real thing.
