I have recently purchased a 1917 krag jorgensen and it was spotized. I can only find the parts I need to restore it back to orgonal in the USA. Does anyone know where I can find a:

- stock
- fore guard
- read and front band with screws

Thank in advance for your help.

As a side note. This banana guy looks like he's having fun

Friend, there are a few sporterised Norwegian Krags running around. They are dead-slick smooth and generally accurate: fine rifles.

The problem is that a LOT of them have had the barrels chopped, to the point that UNchopped barrels are a rarity.

A new full-military stock, even if free, will do you no good if the barrel has been chopped; there just don't seem to be any spare parts on this side of The Great Puddle.

What is the barrel length of your rifle, measured with a rod from bolt-face to muzzle? Can you provide a photo or two?

This information WILL help.

Hope this helps.

If your rifle is a Norwegian Krag, it will not fit a US krag stock nor any US krag parts. Norwegian Krag parts are very hard to get and if you can, that is get them from Norway, they will cost you alot of money. The last stock I purchased from Norway was $300 CDN in VG shape to restore a Stomperud Krag from 1944. For example a bolt is around $100, bayonet in original cond is $300, and so on.

From the bolt face it's 22 1/4 inches. I'd love to put photo but I don't have the option to upload one.

I bought this gun for $125. It shoots amazing an quite accurate. It seems as tho I hit a gold mine!! I found a rear site for $50. It's been shipped and I'll have it within 2 weeks.

Thanks for the help all.

if you go on the site called gunboards .........they have a section dedicated to krags .

theres a member or 2 from norway, one who makes stocks and sells norwegian krag bits .
he made me a stock for my m-12 krag.

PHOTOS OF YOUR rifle would help as others have suggested .

I'm betting that Lockie's looks like this one...http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=716670

It would have started life as an M1894 rifle. All of the sporterised M1894's that I've seen have had the barrel cut back to just over 22" and the front sight base re-installed. The bayonet lug, which was under the front sight base, was also milled away. I'm surprised that it has a good bore, most of the ones I've seen or heard about have been sewer pipe grade.

It's a 1917 for sure. It's does appear to be cut back and the front site reattached. Or rather the "nose" was put back on.

Jakester - that site leads nowhere.

I'd love to post a picture, but as I previously post, I don't have that privilege. I can not post pictures.

Lockie, I was trying to link to the pic of the one for sale in the EE Section under milsurps for sale. Is the 1917 stamped on the top of your receiver ring? If so, it's the year of manufacture.
