I have asked for advices about Swedish CG 63 on a US forum and here's a reply from a Swedish member:

"Be careful when buying a CG63. Many of them have been range rifles, and have been rebarreled twice, thrice or more. Chamber length was adjusted by turning the barrel harder into the reciever. If the gun seems to have been much used, look for another, as there have been accidents with blow up action. American prices are high: they go för 200-500 Swedish crowns her, i.e. $30-75.

But a CG 63 in good shape is a great shooter!"

So if that's true why we pay so much for CG 63 here and in USA?

I'll call BS. Chamber length is machined into the barrel itself. Turning the barrel in would adjust head space *a possible culprit*, (Headspace is where the round shoulder/rim/belt meets the chamber depending on cartridge style). They may* also be trying to warn of a stretched receiver, which could be a result of constant overpressures, improperly cut barrel threading, or poor steel quality. Blow ups in M96/CG63 rifles most often occurred in North America due to the fact that many shooters used to form brass from 30-06, a dangerous practice as the O6 is smaller in diameter than a 6.5x55. We pay more to play in the Republic of Canuckistan due to the amount of red tape and taxes applied. If you are looking for a CG63/80, Tradeex is a site supporter and have a very good reputation for the quality of products they sell, they are milsurp experts, drop them a line. If action strength is a concern, it shouldn't be. The M96/38 action is quite robust, even though it is "small ring" and does not have the 3rd recoil lug. There are reports from PO Ackley, of a few being rebarrelled to 264 win mag in the 60's with no ill effects. I have a M96 that shoots 1" with 140's at 2800 fps. The rifle is pristine and 101 years old.

Basically cause it's the going rate, they all charge roughly the same (well okay US is higher so we are not actually getting screwed up here).

If you think you can convince a seller to part with one for $100 all the power to ya. :)

I actually quite like mine. Shoots about 1 moa with 120 gn bullets. Compared to the cost of a more modern TR rifle, complete with sights, they are way cheaper. I am not really interested in shooting TR really competitively, so it's a good option for me.
