CG63 any good?

I've not yet acquired one but I have owned/shot several m38's, AG42Bs, and one m96. They ranged in appearance from pristine right down to "shot at &missed...shat at & hit"! What they all had in common was amazing accuracy. They were all good...and my belief is with the CG63 the Swedes took something good and made it better...But the way my luck's been going lately the one I buy will turn out to be a lemon:rolleyes:

There was a big article in Shotgun News last year about these mausers. Apparently they can hold there own even today in the service rifle catagory. The price they are selling for is a very good. They are going for the same only in USD from Century Arms or Samco, can't remember.

I see thay have a fair amount of these rifles, but I need a few questions answered.

1-Are these single shot?
Yes, these are Mauser military actions

2-Good deal?
Yes, sort of ...

3-Will a Ken Farrel mount for a m96 fit these?
If it is a Mauser 96 mount, then probably it will. These have the thumb notch in the left side wall, and there is a 300m target sight on the rear bridge already.

4-How good do they shoot?
Pretty good as a rule, but not any better than most military surplus rifles converted to target configuration. They will have had some conscientious gunsmithing/conversion, but nothing remotely like bench rest standards.

Seem like they would be a fun rifle, and the 6.5x55 is a nice all around caliber.

Or would I be better off with this for $450? http://www.collectorssource.com/item.asp?recid=815

WHOOOOOA!!! Save your money! That is one tired out old dust collector. It might have been on a firing line in the past, but that is not going to give you any target shooting satisfaction.

I decided to get the CG63.

Just got back from the range, all I can say is wow!
My first couple groups fired at 100m went into about 1.5'' and 1.2'' and the 2 following were .5'' and .75'', I find this absolutly amazing with open sights and factory ammo(140gr S&B). The rifle was as discribed for my rifle with some handling marks on the stock but overall good condition, the trigger is very crisp and light. The caliber made It very pleasent to shoot and the action is very smooth and screams of craftsmanship.

will post pics when I get a chance, Cheers!
