Swedish M96 bolt modification

The Timney low swing safety works great on these.Costs about 50 bucks in Canada,. You will probably need to deepen the bolt inletting and the receiver where the bolt drops down after changing the handle to clear the scope. Nothing a file won't fix in 5 minutes.

IF IT WILL NOT FIRE WHEN THE BOLT HANDLE CHANGES ARE MADE LOOK FOR THE BOLT NOT TURNING DOWN FAR ENOUGH AND DEEPEN THE CHANNEL UNTILL IT FULLY CLOSES/LOCKS DOWN.

I was somewhat under the impression that it was already bent, the OP said it was sportered already. And if it's done like the one I have, there should be no channeling the handle required.
But the timmney safety is a good suggestion. I never bothered with mine, because if it's tight fast bush hunting...I just slip the scope off and into a pocket ( got to love a Mauser SSR for that capability ), then the safety comes into play. If it's a tad more open country where the glass is re-installed, I just leave the chamber empty...no safety required at that point. If I have time to use the glass, I have time to work the bolt before shouldering it. That's how I think anyhow.
Stay safe

Whoa! Tell me about this Mauser SSR!! Sounds interesting. BTW, mine is sporterized, but not the bolt.

Well you turn a thumb screw, flip a switch and slide the telescope off rearward. I've a scrubbed K98 with one that I installed myself.
