Swedish M96 scope mounts

After looking at the Milsurp knowledge library I'm thinking that the swedish mainly used German short side rail mounts?

I've got what I understand a nice M96 on the way, and I am wondering if it would be sacrelidgeous to mount an accumount short side rail on it, and some similar looking scope (I don't think I can afford a correct original or repro scope)?

I wouldn't plan on altering the original bolt handle unless it's a mismatch already.

Any opinions? Anyone do this?

Crud, sorry - swedish.

I'm not really interested in anything that bolts onto the rear sight. I like having an ironsight as well as the scope, and am looking to make it look more closely to a swede sniper. From the pictures I've found, almost all look to use the same short side mount as the german ones available, but I'm wondering if there were small but fundamental differences I'm not knoticing. The Swedish side mount is also there, but I haven't heard anything about it... I'd use if for sure if I knew it was decent.

Original Swede 96

Well, it's your rifle. If it's in nice condition, you may want to leave it as is and buy a swede sporter from Tradex.
You cannot use a side mount without a turned down bolt and by the time you're finished "improving" the rifle you will have spent as much as using a sporter and mounting a scope.

The whole point is to have a swedish sniper clone though:p

I also posted that I would be buying a second bolt body if the included one is matched to the gun, and turning that one down instead. I can do most, if not all the work myself, so cost isn't an issue, other than buying the actual assembly.

What I'm trying to figure out is if the correct repro mounts are available. I have found what I think is the same mount set at accumount, but I can't find much/any info on swedish snipers on the internet that mentions the scope mount and its history. There are also no reviews of the accumount scope assy's, so I don't know if there are any general problems I should be aware of.

For reference to the swedish sniper:

The Accumount short assembly:
h ttp://www.accumounts.com/- go to swedish mauser scope mounts.

SO - to recap. I'm not looking to build "a gosh durned good deer killin' rifle that ah' cans shoots from mah truck".

I'm trying to get a closely historically accurate swedish mauser with the correct mounts and scope. Same deal as scoping a K98 with correct period equiptment or scoping a Mosin with the PU mounts and scope.
