are the swedish mauser m38 and m96 barrels interchangeble? and do 6.5x55 and 8x57 use the same boltface?

The threads and barrel shank dimensions are the same.

6.5x55 is a unique size, 0.007" bigger in diameter than the 8x57 with a 0.010" thicker rim. The 8x57 has the same base diameter and rim dimensions as 30-06 and all of its derivatives.

You shouldnt have a problem switching calibers - most brass in 6.5 x 55 is made to the smaller case dimension. Even the correct brass spec would likely fit, as the Swede actions and bolt heads were originally designed for the 6.5.
